Dr. Pluznik is proud to have deep roots in the Washington, D.C. area, where he was raised and continues to care for the community. He graduated with honors from the University of Maryland before earning his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.

During his college and medical school years, Dr. Pluznik was actively involved in research at both the National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins Hospital, experiences that helped shape his commitment to excellence and innovation in patient care. He completed his medical internship at Mercy Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. In 1999, he joined the practice and has been serving patients in the region ever since.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pluznik is passionate about teaching and mentorship. He serves as a clinical instructor at the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Department of Ophthalmology, where he enjoys training the next generation of surgeons in cataract surgery.

Dr. Pluznik specializes in advanced cataract surgery and is dedicated to using the latest technology to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. He offers a full range of premium intraocular lens options, including lenses designed to correct astigmatism and reduce dependence on glasses for distance, intermediate, and near vision. He also provides Light Adjustable Lens technology, which allows vision to be customized after surgery to better match each patient’s individual needs and lifestyle. In addition, he utilizes laser-assisted cataract surgery to enhance precision and further personalize each procedure.

In addition to his expertise in cataract surgery, Dr. Pluznik provides comprehensive eye care, including the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, as well as cosmetic and functional eyelid procedures. He takes pride in building lasting relationships with his patients and ensuring they feel comfortable and well cared for at every visit.
