Dr. Newell Hargett is a highly respected ophthalmologist known for his dedication to patient care and his deep expertise in glaucoma management. He graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University before earning his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School in 1972.

He completed his medical internship at Roosevelt Hospital, followed by his residency in ophthalmology at New York Hospital–Cornell Medical Center. He then pursued advanced subspecialty training with a fellowship in glaucoma at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, further refining his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex eye conditions.

Dr. Hargett proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was appointed Glaucoma Director at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda from 1977 to 1984. His time in service reflects his commitment not only to medicine, but also to caring for those who serve.

For nearly three decades, Dr. Hargett has cared for patients throughout the Washington metropolitan area, earning a reputation for his thoughtful approach, clinical excellence, and dedication to preserving vision.
